Thank you, Garrett. The flowers are actually at the top [almost] of the bushes; they are about ten feet high, so it’s necessary to use the zoom. I really don’t know about camera settings and all that; I just go with what works. I keep telling myself to look it all up and learn it, but I haven’t done it yet. I personally like using the zoom rather than taking them up close; it seems to have better results. But we have different cameras; it might vary in results by camera type/model. I don’t know; it might be fun to experiement with it. :) I love close up shots. they are really awesome. Gives you a whole new perspective of the object you are photographing.

Nice focus! I should try taking pictures farther away some time, all my stuff is as close as my camera will allow.

You have a lot of pretty flowers and plants there! They almost make up for all the bugs and insects ;)
I found an online copy of the Language of Flowers book that I once mentioned. Here is the link http://www.illuminated-books.com/books/flowers.htm
It gives the meanings of different flowers and has Kate Greenaway’s illustrations.
