I forgot the salt… | A City On A Hill

I forgot the salt…

I made some bread on Thursday night, and I forgot the salt. Yep… I did. The bread was bland, but still edible. I won’t forget it next time I make it. I promise. At least I didn’t forget the salt in the challah bread. That wouldn’t have been very good. Ah well… you live and learn through experiences – its the best way. I won’t be forgetting the salt again. :)

Anybody else forget something while cooking or baking something this week? I’d love to hear. Simply drop me a comment. :) And don’t forget to enter my giveaway for organic palm shortening from Tropical Traditions – this stuff is awesome!

P.S. Sorry, I couldn’t get a photo of the bread before it was cut. I’ll be posting the recipe sometime soon, along with photos. Remember – don’t forget the salt!

I didn’t forget anything this week while baking, but I have had my times before!! :) The earlist one I remember doing is when I made muffins and forgot the baking powder. UGG! Sometimes I would make cornbread and forget the butter (because it was still sitting in the microwave all nice and softened waiting for me to remember it!)

Awhile ago I made bean soup and it called for 6 peppercorns. I had NO idea what peppercorns were and so I called Mommy and asked. She said to just put in about 3/4 t. of pepper in to replace the peppercorns. Welllll….cellphone connection must have not been that great because I took it as 3/4 t. for EACH peppercorn!!!! WOOOOOOO it was really spicy!!!!

And, once in awhile….I still forget something :D

The last time I accidentally left out the salt, I realized it after I had already kneaded my dough. I tried to add it then. ha! What a bad idea that was!
I would’ve been better off to just bake it without the salt – good to know it would have still ben edible. : )
Bread-baking is quite the adventure sometimes, isn’t it?

oh! I have done that, this week I was making a new recipe for a spicey orange chicken and I forgot the cornstarch, so of course the sauce wasn’t thick enough, so I had to run to my grandma’s house to borrow some of her cornstarch, being that we were out. :)

I would love to see your bread recipe though :)

    Have a nice day,
    Sincerely,
    Brielle

Isn’t it weird how one little ingredient, however small it may be, can change the entire taste of the finished product??

I actually can’t remember a time I’ve forgotten an ingredient… Though, I’m sure it’s bound to happen sooner or later! :D

I didn’t forget something but I put in way too much milk and flour in my sourdough mother. I also put in a cup too much in my Hill Climbers bread and that didn’t turn out too well. :)

    Prayers,
    Esther

You can read one of my latest posts about how I forgot to pit some dates before putting them through my food processor–and still not realizing it while my food processor was NOT happy and making horrible sounds!
