Saturday Psalm & Praise – The Grass Withereth…
We are now in the season of fall, when the leaves are turning bright orange and muddy browns, when the farmers are harvesting the last of their crops and when the earth is preparing for a cold winter. It kind of brought to mind a verse in the Bible I like. You can find it in Isaiah 40.
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Isn’t wonderful to know that whatever happens, God’s Word will always be with us? We won’t ever need to go searching again. Even though the grass withers, and the flowers fade, God’s Word will always be here. There is another verse about the Word of the Lord and how it will never pass away. This time, Jesus said it Himself -
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
The Word was in the beginning and the Word will last until the end. Jesus is the Word. He will stand forever. Heaven and earth may pass away, but His Word never will.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I was just thinking of this verse the other day. When my children were littler they had a Scripture memory CD with a song on it for this verse. I was just singing it the other day when I felt like I was saying all the wrong things. I was encouraged to remember that if I quote God’s words then I will say the right things b/c the Word of the Lord endures forever!
