Saturday Psalm & Praise – The Old Rugged Cross
Bible Verse of the Day:
Mark 16:6
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
I hope you are participating in the Saturday Psalm & Praise Meme. Next week, I will post a Psalm. Or I may find a hymn I really like and share it with you all. This is one of my favourite hymns. We have a picture frame above our piano with a music sheet in it with “The Old Rugged Cross” on it. Besides, we need to remember what the Old Rugged Cross was used for. It was used to set us free, to free us from having to die as He did.
by George Bennard, 1873-1958
On a hill faraway stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of sinners was slain.
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my burdens at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.
O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my burdens at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home faraway,
Where HIs glory forever I’ll share.
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my burdens at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.
We need to read over the song again, and see if we are willing to lay down everything just like Christ did when He “left His glory above” to die on the Old Rugged Cross for us. We need to be true and glad to bear the Old Rugged Cross, because the One who had to bear it first was blameless. Because He’ll be back some day to take to our homes faraway! ….”So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my burdens at last I lay down;
“I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown…”
I hope you are participating in the Saturday Psalm & Praise Meme. It’s so easy to participate in a meme; you just post a post!
Have a WONDEFUL and BLESSED day!
Sincerely,
Lady Rachel
I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. “You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!” Philippians 4:13

As yo can tell, I love this song, too. ( I picked the same one).
