News about our goats: Chloe and Heidi

If you didn’t read my post about the goats last time, read this one to learn all about them. Here is the basic info on them. You can also learn more about them on my sister’s posts about them. They are: Extra Extra Read All About It! A Reflection of Sisters and SecretsWhat’s A Nubian?Goat~education.

They are two three years old Nubian female goats, and their names are: Chloe & Heidi. Chloe is a very light tan, with a stripe down the middle of her back. Heidi has a very pretty mixture of browns and blacks. She also has some white on her. Now that you have the basics about them, let’s talk about spending a day with them.

They are very playful and LOVE to eat lots and lots of dry leaves. We have fed to feed them corn and protien pellets everydsay so that they can get all the nutritous value that they need. We feed them leaves too. They like those leaves!

The first day that they were here they played with each other. They stood up on their hind legs and kicked each other with their frond hooves. They also like to headbut each other. In fact, Chloe headbutted me today. She wanted to scratch on the fence and I was in the way so she kind of removed me herself. It didn’t really hurt. She just kind of scooted me over.

Well, they live in a stall down in the front of our barn. It’s much bigger than what they were  in. Plus, they have a much bigger place to play in. We have to put them in their stall in the evening and have to let them out in the morning. We feed them in the evening so they can eat the leaves in the daytime. You can’t get them to fat or they have problems having kids.

You can also get milk from them. And make cheese with it too. But not now because they are dry. They are dry because they haven’t kid in about a year. But they can still kid. Thank the Lord!

When we were looking for goats we found some kids but they were in Ohio and that’s a little ways off from here so we said no to them. But I hope that we can find some place that we can take them to to have them bred.

Well, I will you posted on them!

That’s all for now!
