Shabbat Tehillim & Shalom: Yerushalaim Shel Zahav
This week I am going to post Yerushalaim Shel Zahav (Jerusalem Of Gold) by Ofra Haza, she says the words in Hebrew so I put the English words on my post! I hope that you like the song!
Mountain air, clear as wine and the scent of pine.
is carried by the twilight breeze,
along with the sound of bells,
and in the slumber of tree and stone,
captured in her dream,
is the city that sits solitary,
and deep within her, a wall.
Jerusalem of gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin
Jerusalem of gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin.
How the waters cisterns have dried,
the marketplace is empty
and no one visits the Temple Mount
in the Old City
and in the caves in the rocks the wind howls
and no one goes down to the Dead Sea
Jerusalem of Gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin
Jerusalem of gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin,
Jerusalem.
Yet as I come today to sing to you,
and to adorn you with crowns
I am now as worthy as you youngest child,
or as the last of the poets,
like a seraph’s kiss
if I forget thee,
Jerusalem, golden in your entirety.
Jerusalem of Gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin
Jerusalem of Gold
of copper and light
for all your songs
I am a violin,
violin
We listen to this almost every Shabbat, and when we are baking. We listen to Shabbat Shalom and Ofra Haza Im Nin’Alu
I a the 5th child in a family of 9 children. I love Yahushua.
